Commexis Cast Daily – Nov. 02, 2017: Facebook’s Q3 Revenue Gain Despite Controversy

Today’s Commexis Cast discusses Facebook’s Q3 earning’s report, which declares a 79% profit jump from last year despite the Russian ad controversy. The Wall Street Journal’s Deepa Seetharaman reports that Facebook plans to “double the number of employees and contractors who handle safety and security issues to 20,000 by the end of 2018,” which could cause Facebook’s “expenses [to] rise as much as 60% compared with 2017.” The hope is this will reduce the amount of bogus accounts and bad actors from using the platform, which Facebook is currently dealing with in a Congressional hearing. How much will this cut into Facebook’s bottom line in 2018? The Cast weighs in. Plus, Ross Benes on Digiday has a breakdown of video ad fraud.

Today’s cast: Len Ward (Commexis President), Matthew McGrorty (Commexis Videographer/Podcaster), and Phillip Brooks (Commexis Lead Strategist).
