Commexis Cast Daily – Jan. 09, 2018: Want Incredible User Engagement? Advertise on…Coloring Book Apps!?

Today’s Commexis Cast discusses the success of advertising in coloring book apps! From Lionsgate to Kellog’s, brands are getting amazing engagement rates compared to other forms of advertising. Ilyse Leffreing on Digiday reports that “branded coloring books on Recolor” a popular coloring app, “see an average engagement rate of 10 minutes. For comparison, the average engagement rate of a custom interactive ad is 43.7 seconds.” More often than not, these brands are using banner ads that give users video content to watch, followed by additional coloring book pages.

If those metrics weren’t enough, many brands are drawn (pun intended) to these types of advertisements due to the typical user demographic: women in their 30’s. In addition, coloring apps top the iOS App Store claiming 11 spots in the Top 50 most downloaded apps, and for December making up 5 of the top 6 most downloaded apps. The Cast offers their reaction to this “off the beaten path” type of advertising.
