Not Using your Email List? Maybe it’s Time to Rethink That

Whether you’ve just bought a new email list or you’ve been sitting on one for a while, it’s important to make sure that you’re getting the most out of your investment. Marketing experts have a lot of differing views about the usefulness of email lists and the best way to utilize them. But if your New Year’s Resolution is to make the most out of your marketing budget, then you should make it a priority to engage your potential customer base through an extensive email list in 2016. If you let it sit dormant, you’re potentially losing both customers and notoriety for your business. Let’s take a look at the best strategies for making the most out of your emailing lists.

First off, it’s important to spell out the benefits of utilizing a proper email marketing campaign and what it can do for you. Of course, the whole point of an email list is to not only recoup your investment and gain new customers, but hopefully you can get your email list to start working and generating profit. Many people think email marketing is dying. It’s not. In fact, it is still the most effective form of digital marketing there is, with conversion rates much higher than those of social media platforms.

You are six times more likely to get a click through from an email than from a Tweet. You’re 40 times more likely to acquire a new customer through email than through Facebook or Twitter as whole. And it’s not even social media: email has the highest conversion rate of any other form of digital and physical marketing methods. Simply, email is here to stay. Don’t overlook it.

Salesforce’s marketing arm just released their 2015 State of Marketing Report, which takes a comprehensive look at the B2B and B2C landscape, and they had some interesting findings:

  • 74% of marketers believe email produces ROI in the near future.
  • For B2B companies, nearly 68% if internet users prefer email as the primary communication method with businesses
  • 20% of marketers say that their business’ primary revenue source is directly linked to email operations.

This means that marketers truly believe that email marketing is the number 1 platform, and with what seems like the perennial uptick in mobile business operations, it’s only going to get bigger.

The number of email addresses in the world is still growing. And marketers that are in the know understand what that means. It means that for 2016, email marketing will continue to be the leading method of digital advertising. Opt-in features still produce reliable and valuable returns and conversion rates, and there’s not shortage of potential customers. If you’re just sitting on your email list, thinking that it’s a dead technology and that social media is the future, you’re wrong, and you’re missing out on a lot of business. Do yourself a favor and hop on the email wagon again and 2016 may just be your year. Stay tuned for some new posts about how to make the most out of your campaign.
