Google released an algorithm update that will help featured snippets stay fresh and up to date. Here’s what you need to know.
A Feature for The Featured Snippets
Google’s Vice President of Search Pandu Nayak announced on their blog an update to featured snippets that aims to keep them up to date. In essence, Nayak explains that sometimes searches must be timely, such as income tax brackets. You’re likely looking for the 2019 answer.
Sometimes information changes over time, such as release dates.
Finally, Google will also be adding support for alerts on recalls. Here’s a recall image before an update.
After the update, the snippet now points to much more accurate information.
Google plans to continue to tweak this algorithm to ensure the most update to date and factual information is presented. At the moment there’s no secret to getting your site featured as a featured snippet. However, you increase your change by having quality content, and now by having up-to-date information, too.
