Snapchat’s Stories and Ads Coming to Other Platforms and Apps – The Buyer’s Journey 27

Snapchat has announced other platforms, such as Tinder and Houseparty, can host Stories within their own apps. Plus, Snap is expanding it’s ad network.

The Awareness Stage: A Refresher

The Awareness Stage is the first stage in The Buyer’s Journey. During the Awareness stage, a prospective customer realizes they have a need or are made aware of a problem.

No More Copycats

At the Snap Partner Summit in Los Angeles, Snapchat revealed a plans for the app in the coming months. In particular, Snapchat says that other platforms will be able to host Stories within their own apps. So, an app like Tinder can allow users to link Snapchat with the dating app. Then users can share their Stories, bitmoji, and stickers within the app. This new feature comes at a time where Snapchat is trying to enforce it’s uniqueness in the market, and fend off would-be copycats. According to TechCrunch, more than 200 apps have already integrated the privacy-safe Snap Kit that lets users log in to other apps with Snapchat.

The feature also works from within Snapchat itself. Now, when a user takes a picture or video they’ll be given the option to share it to their linked apps. Each app will handle how you see the content regardless of how you originally sent it. On Tinder, for example, you might see a Snap story between swipes of potential matches.

But sharing your Stories to other apps isn’t the only card Snap has up their sleeve. Advertisers, too, will be able to reach users on other apps hosting Stories. Snapchat said it will be splitting revenue with developers, but didn’t specify any percentages. Ads won’t be run immediately when the feature launches later this year, but will be coming shortly after.

If your business is interested in getting the development kit in advance of the launch later this year, you can apply for access.
